This shouldn't be legal.

So, I'm typing this from bed. On my new Macbook (that I have wanted since Sex and the City so shamelessly advertised for it via Carrie Bradshaw). And I'll simply say I'm making up for lost time, in terms of the whole Luddite-esque (that's how it felt to me anyway) lifestyle we were living until one week ago.

Now, not only do we have a television, but I think I've convinced my husband that we need Tivo. I could write a book about how much I love Tivo, or is it TIVO? I think it's Tivo. Anyone with a twenty-month-old needs a Tivo- that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Where was I? Oh yeah...and I just finished updating my queue with Netflix- did you know you can download and watch some things instantly on your computer? Me either.

It's a slippery slope I tell you, this technology stuff. We think we own our things, but our things end up owning us. I keep thinking of Laura, who together with her family are trying not to buy anything new for one year (or something like that, I just recently started reading her blog). I dig that, I think we should all buy less. And I plan to...right after I find a sewing machine. And maybe a GPS.

Oh, my gosh! TiVo and TomTom are the greatest inventions of ... well at least of this current century! TiVo has saved my children's lives *grin* and my sanity on many occasions! And, let me just say that, living out in the country where you hear coyotes howl as soon as you step outside, John Cleese sarcastically guiding me via TomTom is wonderful!

LOL!! May I just say that I LOVE the way you think! I want a wireless network in my home, cable TV and TiVo, along with Adobe Photoshop, a new lens for my camera and... Hmmm...I wonder if my working those extra hours could help me convince dh?!

Hugs & Blessings!

Hi Holly--Laura checking in here...

I just read on someone else's blog, that they had gone to Muir Woods and a worker there explained that if we would all cut down just 10% (not everything, as we're trying to do...)on new purchases, we would ensure the survival of places like Muir Woods.

It doesn't take a lot to make huge differences.

10% If you want to get 10 new things, and you decide to not get the 10th thing, you've reached the 10%--that is not hard to do!

Everyone will just have to do what they can. baby steps for some, grander efforts for others. Whatever. Every bit helps. Really!

Thanks for the input Laura...10% certainly is possible. And if 10%, why not 20%. Every little bit does help!
